Charleston’s new dueling piano bar thrives off varied song requests, improvisation

What says a night out more than screaming along to a cover of Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” performed by two masterful piano players and singers in a downtown club?
Really nothing, in my opinion.
It was a Thursday at JohnKing Grill, whose upstairs has been transformed into Charleston’s only current dueling piano bar.
Three middle-aged women on an out-of-town girls’ trip bought tickets at the front door, enticed by the thought of submitting song requests for some of their personal favorites. They ascended a stairwell that opens into a long room featuring a stage and seats up front and a bar, with more seating in the back.
